What's been happening with the Moores!!

It's been a long time since I posted anything.  Life happens and you just get a little crazy!!  Wesley came home in June!!! YAY!  The deployment actually went a little faster that what I had imagined.  It was hard having to depend on other people, which if you know me, is really hard for me to do.  I know it's weird for me and the girls to have to explain to Wesley the way we have done things over the last year, and I know it's been strange for him as well to walk in to a different life than what he left.
This is a pic from the day Meredith and I went to Gaffney to pick Daddy up!  She hugged him like she had seen him every day. I know that's when using FaceTime helped!!!

Well, can't get the video to work.. Give it some time!

That is a video of Wesley surprising Madison at school!  She had no idea I went to go get him!

So, since then we have gone to Charleston, Clemson a couple of times.  Madison turned 6!! and Meredith turned 2!

I sit here tonight watching Rudolf with my mom, my oldest daughter and the pups.  As I tried to hold it together tonight and tried to explain to Madison that she may hear some very sad news over the next few days, I just wanted to hold her that much tighter.  Today, the lives of innocent children were taken by a child himself.  We may never understand why, we will never forget this day.  I pray for all the families affected, including those of the shooter.  No matter what, they lost a son, brother, grandchild and will always have to remember the pain he caused.

Over the next few months we will hear stricter gun laws, bashing of the NRA, and the such.. I am a proud woman to support the Second Amendment.  I got my CWP this year.  I plan to purchase a smaller pistol and holster to carry it on my person.. Yes, I have two small children.  I will do what I have to do to keep them safe.  Will I risk their lives to do it? No.  But I will defend myself.  Like my instructor told us.  If you see a sign that says no concealed weapons.  Take your business elsewhere.  I believe if that movie theater would have allowed C W's then someone may have been able to stop that shooter.

Just some thoughts.  back to Rudolf.  Sad day and long time healing to come for not only those families in connecticut, but for our nation.

I don't know....

I don't know how to be a single mom.. take it, it's only a year, but I've never done it.  Yes... there are millions of women and men that are single parents... like I said, I've never done it.  Those that I do know, have parents that help, nannies, and even the other parent that takes the kids during "their time". What to do, what to do.. I really want to leave my job.  I really like what I do, but not found with some of the things going on.  Plus, I only see my girls, maybe, 3 hours a day.  It's not fair to them.  It's not fair that our wonderful babysitter who is pretty much family, saw Meredith walk for the first time today.  It's no one's fault, it just happens.

I tried assistant coaching t-ball and had to rely on another mom to watch Meredith while i coached.  If she wasn't there, I couldn't coach.  Sometimes I had her on my hip because I was the only coach there and couldn't let the other kiddos down.  Soccer starts in a couple of weeks and so does kindergarten!  I want to be that room mom that volunteers.  I want to be the mom that walks through the door and Madison is so excited that I'm there to help, not that I'm the mom that hasn't been there all day.

When Wesley actually gets to Kosovo in a few weeks and his pay is tax free, I'll be able to afford to stay home.  There are stay at home moms that I want to connect with.  I need to start praying about it more.  I don't know if my job will let me work part time, take a leave of absence.  I don't know that I can be a stay at home.  I've worked since I was 15.  I don't know how not to!

I guess we will see... Thanks for listening :)

don't know how long I can control it....

I just really really really want to let someone know exactly how they have caused conflict in my life, marriage, and just about caused me to go in to the hospital...... grrrrrrrrrr.... that is all.

Man, er, woman's best friend

So, while I am getting back into the animal shelter volunteering, I look at my own house full of pets. These guys aren't just pets, they're family members. We lost two of them almost a year apart. Bailey, my very sweet boy of almost 12 years and my kitty Tara, aka Monkey, who stayed with me through her 15 lives for 17 years. These two loved me unconditionally. If I was mad, sad, really happy, sick.. whatever, they would be by my side. Now, we have a few stray cats that come to the house to be fed. Sometimes they leave for a week, and I think this is it they're gone, but no.. here they are again! Must be hanging with some other folks at their house for a while. As I type this, my buddy Locker is sitting next to me, just waiting for a rub behind the ears. I don't understand why i'm the only one that like him.. except for Madison.. He's really her dog. He just loves...and loves.... no matter what mood I'm in. Why can't humans just do that. Why do we flip a switch and decide to ignore or mistreat the people we "love", who are supposed to take care of us? I know it all comes down to sin, but we can learn a few things from our four-legged friends.

I so wish I had a huge yard, or several acres for that matter. We would have about 5 dogs, all of which were rescues. It breaks my heart to go volunteer and these animals that get looked over only because they may be a Pit mix.. or ooh, this one has a black tongue.. must be Chow... Which gets me on my other soap box. Look over the years...... I remember German Shepherds where the Tabu dogs.. Then Chows, Rottweilers, and now Pitts. After working with so many Pitts, they have stollen my heart! It's all about how you treat these babies. Love them, and they'll love you back.

I am such a softie for these homeless animals... Cats too. They look up at you with such love and need. Please, if you are thinking about getting a dog or a cat... take a look at the shelter's first. They need us!!! pawmettolifeline.org

Friendships

This weekend we had some good friends come to Clemson with us. Katie and Michael are some of the most awesome people we have every have had the pleasure of knowing.

It was a weekend of firsts for both of them. She had never been tailgating or to a football game for that matter. He went to another ACC school and instantly fell in love with Clemson. We had a great time. He had never fed a baby, and was a natural giving Meredith her bottle. She changed diapers, fed her, you name it. They both kept Madison entertained as well.

The coolest thing about hanging out with them, was the fact that it felt natural. There was never a moment of awkwardness, nothing was strained. We didn't need to keep each other entertained, never had to worry about lack of conversation. We had plenty to talk about, but if we didn't feel like talking, that was not a big deal, or any deal at all. Being with our dear friends just cements our choice of making them the guardians of our girls. They share our beliefs, which means a lot. They are truly our gifts from God.
